Dear fellow art history enthusiasts,

Welcome to Heartwork! I am Emily, and this blog is my work of heart.

I fell in love with art history in kindergarten, when my teacher introduced the class to Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. As part of the lesson, each student made his or her own rendition of the Post-Impressionist masterpiece. Here is Emily van Gogh’s (not so accurate) take, which still graces a wall in my home:

This project ignited my imagination and passion for art history, and I soon dragged my family to the Museum of Modern Art in New York City to see the stunning work up close.

Fast-forward over a decade, and I still find art history relevant and fascinating. Through Heartwork, I share some of my adventures in the lighthearted side of art history, from edible art to picture re-creations to museum trips and more.
